Inniswood: pick a garden loop from 0.1 to 0.6 miles
Inniswood Metro Gardens has several short ADA-rated routes at 940 S Hempstead Road. The paved Sisters’ Garden Loop is 0.25 miles and circles a 2.8-acre children’s garden. The Frog Talk Walk is 0.1 miles on boardwalk beside a pond, Rose Garden, and Herb Garden. The Brookwood Trail is 0.4 miles, paved, and passes the Memorial and Sisters’ Gardens. The longer Boardwalk Trail is 0.6 miles over boardwalk and gravel through beech-maple forest.
Inniswood is open 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April through September and 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from October through March. The park page says public restrooms are outside Innis House. It lists Innis House hours as Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; confirm restroom access if it is essential to your trip.
Pets are not allowed beyond the parking lot or inside the gardens. Leashed pets are allowed on the exterior 0.6-mile Chipmunk Chatter Trail.
Blacklick Woods: take an elevator into the tree canopy
Blacklick Woods has a wide, one-eighth-mile Canopy Walk 40 feet above the ground. An elevator reaches the main loop, which Metro Parks identifies as accessible for wheelchair users.
The upper viewing platform rises to 55 feet and still requires additional stairs. Rope bridges, a cargo net, and climbing features are optional parts of the structure rather than the accessible route.
The Canopy Walk keeps its own hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April through September and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from October through March. It stays closed until noon on the second Tuesday of each month for maintenance. The park may be open when the Canopy Walk is closed.
Metro Parks lists the Blacklick Creek Greenway as the park’s designated pet trail. It does not list the Canopy Walk for pets.
Scioto Audubon: choose your own riverfront distance
Scioto Audubon Metro Park starts at 400 W Whittier Street, just south of downtown. Metro Parks says two miles of the paved Scioto Greenway run through the park along the Scioto River. Its trail overview rates the full 10-mile, one-way greenway as easy and ADA accessible.
You do not have to walk the full distance. Start inside Scioto Audubon and turn around when you want. The trail is shared with bikes and leashed pets. The park also has a separate 1.5-acre fenced dog park near the park office.
Scioto Audubon is open 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. from April through September and 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. from October through March.
Metro Parks welcomes service animals on all trails, in buildings, and in greenspaces regardless of a route’s pet designation.
